What is Digestive dysfunction?
Digestive dysfunction is any condition where the digestive tract is not functioning adequately. In our modern society this is becoming more prevalent and can manifest as individual symptoms such as bloating, flatulence, heartburn, constipation or abdominal discomfort to specific conditions such as IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or inflammatory bowel disease.
EDGE WELLNESS formulates an individual treatment regime by clinical history, examination and lifestyle assessment- dietary and stress management. Specific tests that may be useful include biochemical assessment, specialized stool tests, tests of digestive function, assessment of liver function and detoxification and food allergy tests.
As the bowel has such a major role in many chronic and autoimmune conditions including eczema and rheumatoid arthritis, assessment of digestive function and liver detoxification is often necessary in conditions not traditionally thought of as having a digestive component.
